A Bottle of Gin
Nay Tanqueray
Inspires me to
Inspire today

To come
And to say
As here I stay
That here on this day
Or miraculous night
Fighters at bay
Will continue to fight

To be quite aware
To be quite alright
To safely declare
That they still share
Their might

“What might?” you ask
“What might?” you say
Gained from a flask
Gained such a way
That through its combat
Could rise to the top
That could do all that
Refusing to stop

The might of the word
The might of the pen
The might that’s still heard
Now and again
In moment of passion
In moment of heat
Or moments of rational
Thought, not defeat

For to those
Who continue to write
To those who chose
To continue the fight
To be what they are
To be what they be
To those who continue
To write to be free

To them I declare
To this I might add
That their one flair
Can hardly be bad
For writing is passion
And love can’t mean harm
For words can engage
And seek to disarm

To bring about peace
And love and grace
To bring man to man
And bring face to face

And with it all
Writers can win
With what was started
By bottle of Gin
